On 20th September, 2007, Affinity Insurance Brokers sponsored the Inaugural National Outdoor Education Risk Management Conference on behalf of the Victorian Outdoor Education Association, focusing on “Innovation through Risk Management” providing a forum for delegates to explore how risk management can be a proactive and innovative planning and management tool.
Peter Grant of Affinity provided an introduction to the conference introducing keynote speakers including:
- Preston Cline, President, Adventure Incorporated,
- Grant Davidson, Director, Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre,
- Clare Dallat, Director of Risk Management, The Outdoor Education Group, and
- Peter Wilkinson, Manager Risk Portfolio Branch, Department of Education.
Paul Davenport of Affinity facilitated a panel discussion including a range of leaders from the outdoor education field to view their perspectives on the challenges facing risk management in the field.
In addition, Jane Martin, Mary Spanos and Graeme Hannan were on hand to facilitate discussion with delegates.
Both Jane Martin and Paul Davenport remained for the 15th National Outdoor Education Conference held from the 20th to 23rd September, 2007 as a trade exhibitor and a resource for delegates to assist with insurance and risk management questions throughout the conference.
